A visit to PNG and East New Britain would be wasted without the chance to view or take home a traditional artefact as a souvenir of your time in the land of the unexpected. At the Kokopo Beach bungalows, we work with local carvers and traditional villagers to sell their authentic carvings, masks and artefacts for visitors to purchase. Our most popular items are local mask carvings and ceremonial canoe paddles. Visitors interested in local culture should also note that East New Britain hosts the annual Mask Festival each July, where villagers showcase their traditional dance and way of life.
